Ahaz Reigns in Judah

1 ^aAhaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. And he did not do what was right in the eyes of the Lord, as his father David had done, 2 but he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel. He even made ^bmetal images for ^cthe Baals, 3 and ^dhe made offerings in the ^eValley of the Son of Hinnom and ^fburned his sons as an offering, ^{▼

Hebrew made his sons pass through the fire} according to ^hthe abominations of the nations whom the Lord drove out before the people of Israel. 4 And he sacrificed and ⁱmade offerings on the high places and on the hills and under every green tree.
