Psalms 16
You Will Not Abandon My Soul
A a Miktam
▼
▼
Probably a musical or liturgical term of David.
1 Preserve me, O God, for in you I c take refuge.2 I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
d I have no good apart from you.”
3 As for e the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones,
in whom is all my delight. ▼
▼
Or To the saints in the land, the excellent in whom is all my delight, I say:
4 The sorrows of those who run after ▼
▼
Or who acquire
another god shall multiply;their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out
or h take their names on my lips.
5 The Lord is i my chosen portion and my j cup;
you hold my k lot.
6 l The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.
7 I bless the Lord who m gives me counsel;
in n the night also my o heart instructs me. ▼
▼
Hebrew my kidneys instruct me
8 q I have r set the Lord always before me;
because he is at my s right hand, I shall not be t shaken.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my u whole being ▼
▼
Hebrew my glory
rejoices;my flesh also dwells secure.
10 For you will not abandon my soul to w Sheol,
x or let your y holy one see z corruption. ▼
▼
Or see the pit
11 You make known to me ab the path of life;
in your presence there is ac fullness of joy;
at your right hand are ad pleasures forevermore.
