Amos 1:3-5

3 Thus says the  Lord:

a “For three transgressions of b Damascus,
and for four c I will not revoke the punishment ▼
▼ Hebrew  I will not turn it back; also verses 6, 9, 11, 13

because they have threshed e Gilead
with threshing sledges of iron.
 4  f So I will send a fire upon the house of g Hazael,
and it shall devour the strongholds of h Ben-hadad.
 5 I will i break the gate-bar of j Damascus,
and cut off the inhabitants from the Valley of k Aven ▼
▼ Or On

and him who holds the scepter from m Beth-eden;
and the people of n Syria shall go into exile to o Kir,”

says the  Lord.
